• Measuring and marking cutting lines on materials using rulers, pencils, chalk, and laser levels to ensure accurate placement

• Mixing mortar and grout to appropriate consistency and spreading it evenly between bricks and blocks

• Checking vertical and horizontal alignment of courses using spirit levels, plumb lines, and straightedges to maintain structural integrity

• Cutting and shaping bricks and blocks to size using hand tools, power saws, and chisels to fit specific spaces and design requirements

• Constructing corners and angles by fastening bricks together and ensuring proper bonding patterns

• Removing excess mortar and cleaning finished brickwork surfaces to maintain aesthetic standards

• Repointing and repairing damaged or deteriorating brickwork on existing buildings and heritage structures throughout Manchester city centre

• Scaffolding erection and dismantling, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations at elevated work sites

• Installing damp-proof courses and insulation materials during construction to prevent moisture penetration

• Collaborating with other construction trades including carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and site managers to coordinate workflow

• Maintaining and cleaning tools and equipment, ensuring they remain in good working condition
