Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Team Leadership & Scheduling: Directly supervise a team of cleaners and porters, creating efficient daily and weekly shift rotas to ensure full coverage across all airport zones, including arrivals, departures, and retail areas.
- Quality Control & Inspection: Conduct regular and random inspections of all cleaned areas, using checklists and digital reporting tools to ensure compliance with contractual Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and public health standards.
- Stock & Inventory Management: Manage the inventory of cleaning chemicals, equipment (floor scrubbers, vacuums), and PPE. Place orders and control budgets to prevent shortages and wastage.
- Training & Development: Train new team members on airport-specific cleaning protocols, safety procedures (including spillage control and biohazard handling), and the use of specialised equipment.
- Client & Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary on-site contact for the airport's facility management team, attending briefings and reporting on performance, issues, and resolutions.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all work is carried out in strict adherence to COSHH regulations, airport security protocols, and general health and safety legislation. Conduct team safety briefings and risk assessments.
Essential Requirements for Candidates
Must-Have Experience & Skills
- Proven experience (2+ years) in a commercial cleaning supervisory role, ideally within aviation, large retail (like Meadowhall), healthcare, or hospitality.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills with the ability to motivate a diverse team.
- Excellent understanding of COSHH, health & safety, and infection control practices.
- Competent in using basic IT systems for reporting, scheduling, and email communication.
- Ability to pass a thorough airport security background check (CRB).
