- Coordinating with the inbound, outbound, and transport planning teams to ensure accurate receipt and dispatch of goods, minimising delays.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. How quickly can I start this Stock Controller job in Wigan?
Extremely quickly. This role is for an immediate start. Once you apply, our Wigan-based team will typically conduct a brief telephone screening within 24 hours. If suitable, we can arrange a fast-track interview with the client, often within 48 hours. For candidates with all documentation ready (right-to-work, references), a start within the same week is highly achievable. We specialise in rapid placements to meet urgent client demand.
2. What experience do I need to apply?
We are looking for candidates with at least 6-12 months of direct stock control or inventory experience in a warehouse or similar environment. Proficiency with WMS/ERP systems and strong Excel skills are key. However, we also consider transferable skills. For example, someone with experience in retail management, IT helpdesk data logging, or even a Sous Chef managing kitchen inventory may possess the organisational and numerical skills required. If you're unsure, apply anyway and our consultants can assess your fit.
3. Is this a temporary role only, or is there a permanent opportunity?
This is initially a temporary assignment, but the client has a clear temp-to-perm pathway. They use the temporary period to evaluate performance, cultural fit, and reliability. For the right candidate who demonstrates accuracy, initiative, and teamwork, a permanent contract is the intended outcome. Many of our placements across sectors, from construction to commercial cleaning, follow this successful model.
4. Do you offer roles outside of warehouse and logistics?
Absolutely. Staffing Service is a multi-sector agency. While we have a strong reputation for logistics roles like this Stock Controller position, we also fill permanent and temporary roles in hospitality, skilled trades, events, office support, and more. For instance, we frequently recruit for Transport Planners, IT Helpdesk support, and Sous Chef positions across the UK. Registering with us gives you access to our entire live job board.
5. How does the pay and timesheet process work?
It's simple and reliable. You will submit your hours via our easy-to-use online portal or mobile app each week. Your dedicated consultant approves them with the client. You are then paid directly into your bank account every Friday for the previous week's work. All pay slips are digital and accessible online.
