Job Description: Quality Control Inspector

We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Quality Control Inspector to join their dynamic team on an immediate start, temporary basis with a strong view to becoming a permanent member of staff. Core Responsibilities & Daily Duties
As the Quality Control Inspector, you will be the final checkpoint before products leave the facility. Your keen eye for detail and systematic approach will ensure zero defects reach the customer, protecting the company's reputation and ensuring compliance with stringent industry standards.
- Conduct first-article, in-process, and final inspections of machined components using precision measuring equipment (CMM, micrometers, verniers, height gauges, surface plates).
- Interpret complex engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and technical specifications to verify part conformity.
- Document all inspection results accurately in quality management software, generating detailed reports and non-conformance (NCR) records when required.
- Work collaboratively with Production Packers, machinists, and the Team Leader to provide immediate feedback on quality issues, supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Maintain and calibrate inspection equipment, ensuring a clean and organised inspection area that complies with 5S principles.
- Participate in internal audits and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality procedures and reduce waste.
Essential Skills & Experience
Must-Have Requirements
- Proven experience as a Quality Control Inspector in a machining, fabrication, or assembly environment.
- Competency in using manual inspection tools and a solid understanding of GD&T.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings to a high standard.
- Strong attention to detail, methodical approach, and a right-first-time mentality.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and liaising with teams.
Advantageous Skills
- Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) programming or operation.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality management systems.
- Previous experience mentoring junior inspectors or supporting a Team Leader with quality training.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
- Own transport is beneficial due to the G51 location's shift patterns.
Salary, Benefits & Your Career Path
This role offers a competitive hourly rate of £13.50 to £15.50, paid weekly directly into your bank account. The exact rate is determined by your relevant experience, shift pattern (days/back shift), and any specialist skills like CMM operation. Overtime is regularly available at an enhanced rate.
